ABOUT US

AARHUS CENTER NOVI SAD

The work of the Aarhus Center Novi Sad is based on the 1998 Convention of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-Making and the Right to Legal Protection in Environmental Matters (Aarhus Convention). The Aarhus Convention provides:
  • Access to information
  • Public participation in decision making
  • Right to legal protection
Aarhus Center Novi Sad was established in 2011 with the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the City of Novi Sad and the Mission OSCE in Serbia.

WHAT WE DO

Promotion and advocacy of all three pillars of the Aarhus Convention are a priority in the work of the Aarhus Center Novi Sad. We organize volunteer actions, professional seminars, trainings, round tables, public debates, debates and discussions. We are a member of the Network of Aarhus Centers in Serbia AARHUSSRB. We are the coordinator of the Network for Reducing the Risk of Natural Disasters in Novi Sad SRNNS. We are strengthening the dialogue and establishing cooperation between citizens, institutions and local self-governments, which are one of the main bearers of the obligations of the Convention, all with the aim of ensuring democratic processes in the field of environmental protection.
